The R.A.S.P. BAG was originally designed, developed and field tested for, and with the CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT in conjunction with the Rope Assisted Search Program. This resulted in 2 R.A.S.P. BAGS inventorying to every Truck and Squad Company in Chicago.

Since Chicago, we have developed the R.A.S.P. BAG into a SYSTEM that involves a systematic search and rescue procedure. This system will provide: search line to maintain an accountable, safe and systematic search, a tool for disentanglement, and a strap for a secondary search line and/or victim removal. We have combined these components into the R.A.S.P. SYSTEM with the "high speed and low drag" mind set.
